I Told You We're Like Cultured and Stuff.

For those of you who doubted my earlier post, here's the proof that at least a few of us Farstarians can shine up nice and pretty. Or purty if you're from Oklahoma. On October 25, a few of us attended the 2008 Frisco Arts Gala. Here's our own rogues' gallery at the event:

For those of you unfamiliar with Frisco, Texas, it's a northern suburb of Dallas that, until maybe 15 years ago, was more about farming and ranching than soccer games and retail developments. Today, Frisco is growing at a somewhat alarming rate. In fact, the town will nearly triple in size and hit its residential capacity of nearly 300,000 in just 18 years.
Which is why we needed to start getting all culturified now.
At the event, Farstar was the name sponsor (someday we'll afford a stadium) of the live auction that raises money for the Frisco Arts organization. They, in turn grant money to Frisco-based arts projects and artists. As we are wont to do, we couldn't stop at just sponsoring the auction and decided to lend our own creative skills to the affair. We wrote an article for their newsletter, created a print ad for the event's program and designed bid paddles for the auction (shown below).

And even though I linked to this in the previous post, I'll go ahead and re-pimp this little video piece we did to introduce the auction. Apparently, talking smack about neighboring suburb McKinney (at 1:55) is the way to get bidders riled up and ready to spend. Or at least a handshake from the mayor.
In the end, the evening was a great success for Frisco Arts, the city of Frisco and Farstar. As you can see from these photos, a good time really was had by all:

Will we make this an annual affair? Tune in next year to find out.
