Meet James

I just recently joined the Farstar family in the Technical Director role, after working with Kevin and Sean in various freelance capacities through the years. Being familiar with Farstar and some of its people made the decision to leave the cold, corporate landscape behind an easy one. Farstar is pretty much the opposite of that world.
I have been in the technology field since the early 90s when the internet was just starting to take off. I started out setting up networks and doing Unix development while attending college at the University of Wisconsin, where I earned a bachelor's degree in Computer Science with minors in Mathematics and Economics.
After graduating, I moved to Minneapolis to work for a company that moved audio and video payloads around the globe for the motion picture industry. I worked as a back-end Unix developer, and this job gave me crucial experience in load and scalability.
After surviving in the North for the most of my life, I decided a change was in order. I ended up moving to Dallas in the winter of 1999 where I have worked in several industries including telecommunications, healthcare, transportation and consulting in various technical and leadership roles. This vast number of industries exposed me to many systems and increased my knowledge in system architecture and best practices development.
When I am not in the office (physically or virtually), I enjoy playing Rock Band with my 5-year-old daughter Kaitlynn – she is the vocal talent of the family. I also like piña coladas and getting caught in the rain with my wife Kerri. Well, not really. This is Texas, after all; but I do enjoy her company.

James is responsible for overseeing all the technical hoo-doo voo-doo most clients never want to know about – they just want to know their web apps are going to work (hint: they will). He keeps our geeks geeky, and the rest of us assured that they'll only use their programming powers for good. So far, we believe him.
