Fur The Animals - Brand & Identity

July 13, 2008

Client:
Fur the Animals is an online seller of products for dogs, cats and other pets and the people who love them. The company donates 10% of every sale to the animal rescue organization of the buyer's choice.

Situation:
Fur the Animals' founder, LK Greer, is a long-time friend of Farstar. When she first told us about her new business idea, we knew we wanted to help – and we knew exactly how. In our opinion, one of the biggest obstacles for any new business is to appear legitimate. Not legitimate as in "non-fraudulent," but in a "we know what we're doing" way. The old adage "fake it 'til you make it" comes to mind.

Objectives:
In Fur the Animals' case, there are dozens of pet accessory retailers out there. So our goal was to make Fur the Animals instantly credible with pet-loving shoppers.

Strategies & Tactics:
We gave Fur the Animals a complete graphic identity that instantly positioned them as a business you not only trust, but one you actually like. See the work below:

Logo

This logo includes four animals: cat, dog, bird and fish. In addition to communicating that the company caters to all sorts of animals, the logo also provides the basis for the brand's scalable color palette.

Business Card

We wanted to design a card that would stand out among FTA's competitors, particularly at industry trade shows. We explained the company's charitable work on the back of the card to help people understand the pun in their name – otherwise they wouldn't know how a retail store would benefit the animals.

Web Design

In this case, our client had purchased the usage rights to an e-commerce store template for the back end. While it limited our customization options when developing the user interface, we found a way to work within the template's framework to give the site its own unique look and feel.

Results:
Another satisfied client, of course. And a lot of wagging tails.
