We are so excited around The House this week. Let me back up.

One of my favorite independent singer/songwriters is a guy named Brian Vander Ark.

Brian used to be the lead singer and primary songwriter for a post-grunge, alternative band called The Verve Pipe back in the nineties. If you don't remember their name, it would be surprising if you hadn't heard their song called The Freshmen. It was on the charts for months in the summer of 1997, spending much of that time in the top position.

Here's a refresher:

Brian is doing something I find fascinating. He has asked his fans if they would like to book him to come to their house and play for an hour or two. And he's calling it his "Lawn Chairs and Living Rooms Tour."

My long-time friend, Kevin Dahlstrom wrote about it on his blog. I agree with him. This is one more step in the evolution (or re-creation) of the music business.

So, it might be obvious by now, but we've decided to have Brian come play for us. We're just beginning renovations, so it's not like a housewarming or anything. But I expect it to be a warm house regardless.
