Not In This House

I interviewed someone for Farstar one time and I asked that person what would make him succeed here. He answered that he was the guy creatives and technologists fear most.
Ummm...what?
He explained that he had been in many different roles in his past experiences and that he could therefore call B.S. whenever those guys told him something couldn't be done.
Huh?
I gotta tell you (as I told him), clearly he'd been abused by former employers. The thought that any creative or technologist at Farstar would ever even think about saying that out loud is just laughable. In fact, if one of our folks were to ever say something couldn't be done, the others would run them out on a rail (without Ruby!) so fast it would make their head spin. Furthermore, and I simply don't know how to express this any more clearly, the people here see something that others would say couldn't be done and see it as a challenge to figure out how it can be. They even have silly little bets about how fast they can solve the problem or who can solve the problem most efficiently.
I love that about the talented team we have here. Somebody can dream it up and we just know that they'll figure out how to make it so. They always do.
Obviously, this person interviewing wasn't going to fit in at Farstar. Not many do, frankly. It's a little disheartening that it's so hard to find the right kind of philosophies and experiences in such a big city like Dallas.
But if those kinds of people were easy to find, it sure would make what we have a whole lot less unique.
